Ryan Bourque comes to North Newton from Louisiana for his first season as head coach of the Threshers Men's and Women's Cross Country and Assistant Coach of the Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams . Prior to Bethel, Ryan spent three years as the assistant coach at NCAA DI Southeastern Louisiana University where he coached five school record holders. Bourque has also been a successful coach at the high school level. In his 10 years coaching boys and girls in high school, his teams won six state championships and eight state runner up teams.
Bourque has also coached multiple national junior olympic qualifiers in his 11 years of coaching at the club level and has been a personal trainer for five years. From 2003-2006, Bourque coached Antoine Batiste who was a 1:47 800 meter runner. In 2003, Antoine was a US Outdoor Track and Field Championship qualifier. From 2006-2008 Bourque owned and operated International Speed management, and worked as a Sports Agent/Athlete Representative. His company represented a group of Kenyan marathon runners.
Bourque ran in college for the University of Mobile where he was a member of three conference championship teams. He was a member of the Southern Association of USA Track & Field and served as the chairperson from 2001-2005 of the men's and women's long distance running. He also served as the men's and women's long distance running chairperson from 2006-2009 for the Alabama Association USA Track & Field.
