NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Volleyball program over the weekend officially had recruit Sydnee Johnston sign her letter of intent and will officially be playing for the Threshers this coming 2017-18 season.
Johnston hails from Derby, Kansas and is currently a senior at Derby High School.
Johnston specializes as a libero/utility player, and will make an impact for the Threshers from the get go and has Coach Scott Weston excited for her arrival.
"I am very pleased Sydnee has made the commitment to become a Thresher next fall and join the Bethel community" said Weston. "She is a talented defender, reads hitters well, and has a defensive tenacity we need here. She has a motor that never quits and an infectious positive attitude on and off the court, as well as being a tremendous student."
It is true that Johnston has had her fair share of academic accolades, as she was a member of Derby's honor roll all four years of attending, and also made the Dean's List as she has taken classes from Butler Community College.
"Over the past year I have been exploring several different colleges and their volleyball programs" explained Johnston. "I have picked Bethel for multiple reasons. While there were pros to every college I visited, Bethel really spoke to me. Bethel is close enough to home, faith based, and has a strong biology program."
We're glad to welcome aboard Sydnee!
