Stacy Koontz Middleton begins her first year as head softball coach.
Middleton, a graduate of Haven High School, has numerous years of softball experience as an athlete coupled with 10-years of club coaching experience while living in Texas. As a Bethel College student, Middleton participated in both volleyball and track. She was a two-year letter winner in volleyball as a defensive specialist and a four-year letter winner in track. She was a member of KCAC volleyball championship teams as a sophomore and a senior.
As a member of the track team, Middleton was a standout javelin thrower. She owns the women's javelin record for the KCAC meet and Bethel College, and qualified for the NAIA National Championships her sophomore, junior and senior years, finishing fifth, third and seventh, respectively.
Middleton received a bachelor's degree from Bethel College in 1995 in health and physical education and elementary education.

Kirsten Horton begins her first year as assistant softball coach. Horton is a graduate of Newton High School where she played four years for the Railers. During her senior year of high school, she interned in the athletic training department at Bethel College. She attended Hutchinson Community College with an athletic training scholarship and graduated with an Associates of Arts Degree. Kirsten then went to Chadron State College for one year and then graduated in 2007 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Friends University. She has spent the last three years as the assistant coach for her alma mater.
Horton and her husband, Cody, play in Co-ed softball tournaments and enjoy time with their two children.

Shirley Dietzel begins her first year as assistant softball coach. Dietzel, a graduate of Hargrave High School in Huffman, Texas, has numerous years of softball experience as an athlete and several years of recreation coaching in Newton.
In addition to assisting coaching softball, she serves as Bethel College Director of Business Services. Shirley began working at Bethel College in 1994 in food service. She then joined the Admissions department where she was the data entry coordinator in 2000. After five years in Admissions she then took over her current position in 2005.
Dietzel lives in Newton with her husband of 24 years, Ron. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
