Winfield, Kan. - The women's basketball team took their 3-game win streak on the road to Southwestern College last night and despite getting three players in double figure scoring were unable to get their fourth win in a row, losing 67-85.

Payton Walker and Jessica Muckenthaler provided a one two punch for the Threshers each scoring 15 points.  Walker got hers on the strength of hitting 3 out 4 three point field goals and Muckenthaler was a red hot 6 of 9 from the floor.  Chelsea Harris chipped in 11 points to aid in the effort.  New to the starting lineup, April Harpe made her presence felt as she came down with 11 rebounds, 5 of them offensive.

The hostile gym proved to be good to the Threshers shooting as they shot 40% from the floor but were unable to convert their free throws hitting just 7 of 12 for a cool 58%.  However, Southwestern shot the ball just a bit better connecting on 42% of their shots including going 25 of 26 from the charity stripe for and whopping 96%.

For Southwestern (14-5, 8-1) who is ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA Division II poll, Brett Bates led all scorers with 16 points.

Bethel College (8-8, 4-5) will begin the second round of conference play on Saturday, January 20 when they travel to McPherson College.  McPherson College stole a win in the first meeting, 62-74, so the Threshers will have revenge on their minds as they look to improve their place in the conference race.
