North Newton, Kan. - The women's basketball team struggled to shake off the rust from the Christmas break and lost a close game to Friends University 60-64.

Bethel College shot the ball fairly well despite the layoff from Christmas shooting 37% from the field but was only able to manage  just 1-14 from beyond the 3-point line.  The defense held Friends to just 33% from the field but turned the ball over 35 times.

Offensively, the Threshers were led by Jordyn Blanson who got her first double double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Chelsea Harris chipped in 12 points and Payton Walker grabbed 9 rebounds.  The Falcons (11-6, 5-0) who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA basketball poll, were paced by Abby Fawcett who led all scorers with 21 points.

Bethel College (5-7, 1-4) will travel to rival Tabor College on Saturday, January 7 for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
