Lenexa, Kan. - Head women's tennis coach Lonnie Isaac announces the signing of Breanna Honer of Saint James Academy in Lenexa, Kan.
Honer is an accomplished high school tennis player. She was Class 4A state doubles runner-up her freshman year with a 16-3 record. In Honer's junior year she completed her season 23-5 in singles culminating in Class 4A state singles title and this past year finished with a 19-2 singles record and was the Class 4A runner-up in state singles.
Breanna served as the varsity tennis team captain and earned Academic All-State tennis 3.5+ GPA Class 4A State Medalist honors. She won the United States Tennis Association Sportsmanship award.
Outside of the tennis court Breanna has been awarded the Presidents Volunteer Service Award, a member of the National Junior Classical League Latin Honor Society and is a part of the Nursing Academy Program at the Kansas City Medical Center.
"I am so excited to attend Bethel!" Honer said. "The staff and all the tennis players have made me feel so welcome. I look forward to playing on the tennis team while pursuing my nursing degree." she continued.
Johnson County Community College, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Emporia State University and Coe College were all recruiting Honer.
"We are very excited to sign a student-athlete like Bree. Bree has been one of the top high school and USTA players in the state of Kansas, as well as the mid-west, and we are looking forward to the contributions she will bring to our program." Isaac commented. "Bree is a very well rounded individual and comes from a great family. Her addition to our program will not only affect us on the tennis court in a positive way, but she will be a great leader for us off the court and in the classroom as well. Bree will have an immediate impact on our line-up and as coaches we look forward to watching her continued development at the college level."
