(Kansas City, MO)  The Bethel College Women's Tennis program is ranked #20 in the Women Tennis Coaches' Preseason Poll.

The Bethel Women return a strong core of players from last years KCAC Regular Season & Tournament Championship team that made a fourth straight appearance at the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, AL.  Leading that group are returning 1st Team All-KCAC players Miranda Weaver, Steph Shogren, and Ashley Koester, as well as returning 2nd Team All-KCAC players Allie Hipp & Ashley SuhrShayne Runnion and Madelyn Weaver are also experienced varsity players and can impact the line-up.  Other returning players inlcude Alyssa Scheuerman & Abby Viele.  The freshman class has three players - Breanna Honer, Shayla Roath, and Jill Siebert.  All three of these players qualified multiple times for state in high school and Honer has a 4A State Singles Championship on her resume. 

Bethel ended last season receiving votes for the top 25.  A total of four teams are new to the poll after going unranked in the final rating: No. 14 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), No. 20 Bethel (Kan.), No. 22 Cumberland (Tenn.) and No. 23 Belhaven (Miss.).

Bethel Coach Lonnie Isaac has put together a strong schedule for this year facing two other nationally ranked teams, #18 Oklahoma Baptist and #24 Nebraska Wesleyan.  They will look to defend their 2012 KCAC Championship and return to the National Tournament again this year.
