KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 1,658 teams that have earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2016-17 academic year. Bethel College had the great distinction of having 11 different athletic teams meet the requirements to be NAIA All-Scholar.
Leading Bethel overall was the Men's Golf team (coached by Gregg Dick), who put together a cumulative GPA among all team members of 3.60. Closely behind was Women's Tennis (led by Richard Southern), with a 3.51 cumulative team GPA.
These 11 teams are almost double from last year, when only six were given this recognition by the NAIA.

For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
