NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Women's Track & Field program is proud to announce the signing of Jen Andres for the upcoming 2017-18 school year. Andres hails from right across the railroad tracks in Newton, and is the daughter of Mark and Andi Andres. Bethel is in her blood, as well as having a need for speed.

Andres has been one of the more competitive sprinters in the state of Kansas, as proven by her finishes at the Class 5A State Meet last year. As a junior, she took home a 4th place finish in the 200 Meter Dash, and a 5th in the 100. She was also a member of the state winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that Newton fielded during the competition.

Her family has a history of running at Bethel, including her grandpa and mother. Her mother is an All-American for the Threshers, and is part of the current record holding 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads at the school. Andres (maiden name Schmidt), and company ran the events with a time of 50.00, and 3:54.81, respectively. These records have stood since 1981 and 1983.

"We are excited to welcome Jen in our program" remarked Threshers head coach Jeff Hoskisson. "She is someone I started recruiting the minute I took over the program last year. She is someone we really wanted to have in our program."
