North Newton, Kan. - The Bethel College men's tennis team suffered another very tough 4-5 loss at the hands of Tabor College. This time it knocks the team out of the post-season tournament.
"This was another tough loss for our guys." Head coach
Lonnie Isaac said. "We knew going in that it would probably be a 5-4 type of match and that we would be favored at the top of the lineup and Tabor College at the bottom of the lineup."
Results were:
Bethel 4 Tabor 5
#1 Doubles - Chlumsky/Voth-Gaeddert def. Simmet/Shewey 8-0
#2 Doubles - Tedone/Loganbill lost to Vix/Dort 2-8
#3 Doubles - Dubach/Goodrich lost to J. Brucks/Reiswig 4-8
Overall Record: 3-12 KCAC Record: 2-4
"I really felt like we had the potential to win 2 or 3 doubles and when we didn't get that second point early I knew it would be tough. After the first 3 singles we were up 4-2 but just couldn't find that 5th point." Isaac said. "
Clinton Chlumsky and
Jesse Voth-Gaeddert continued to dominate at 1 doubles having completed an undefeated regular season at that spot. We don't have any seniors on this team so while we are certainly dissapointed to not have qualified for the team tournament we will move forward and try to have a successful individual conference tournment to end our season."
Bethel College ends its season with a 3-12 regular season record and 2-4 in KCAC play.
