The Bethel College volleyball team opened up the 2011 conference season with a 3 game sweep over Bethany College.

In set 1 the Threshers were able to put the Swedes on their heels from the beggining with tough serving and a block that stymied the Swede attack and were able to finish the set with a 25-9 score.

In set 2 the Threshers struggled early to score points and were not able to get on any run.  But the Bethel attack came alive late in the set with the help of some good passing and were able to pull out the 2nd set win, 25-23.

The 3rd set started out much the same as the 2nd set with Bethel back on their heels and unable to get any momentum.  After an early timeout by the Threshers, Bethel was able to start chipping away at the lead and finally tied the score at 20-20.  From there Bethel College took control and finished out the match with a 25-22 3rd set victory.

Bethel College was led in hitting by senior Kristen Lohaus who finished the night with 11 kills.  She was followed closely by fellow senior Malerie Herztler with 8 kills.  Senioor Alyssa Schrag put up 21 assists and senior Addi Wolf led the team in digs with 13.

The Threshers take the weekend off and will be in action again on Tuesday, September 13, when they travel to Winfield, KS to take on conference foe Southwestern College with junior varsity playing at 5:30 and varsity beginning at 7 p.m.
